SUMMARY
Drones are flown with a remote or computer which allows the user to be free from entering a cockpit. The whole point of the drone was to essentially take its user out of harm’s way. In recent years, the public has really been drawn to drones for recreational uses. Drones have really transformed these last couple of years as their uses have expanded beyond our grasps, quicker than anyone thought. Drones today assist with photography, recreational purposes, stopping wildfires, ariel coverage post natural disasters, roof inspections, etc. I will be discussing the most popular drone which is the Multi Rotor drone. These drones are mainly for starters because of their affordable price as well as little to no expertise needed to control the device itself. The drone’s purpose is mostly used for photographers so they can capture videos and images out of their reach. However, they are only able to fly for about 20-30 minutes at a time. The short airtime is mainly because the energy powers 4 rotors. The more rotors you have, the more energy is used. Drones with multiple rotors can only use electric motors because of their swift change in direction and height. . There are usually three different types of technology used for the drones to return home. The first one is triggered by the pilot manually clicking on a phone or remote for the drone to return to home base. Second is if the drone reaches lowery battery, for example has 10% remaining it will come home automatically. There is even technology where depending on how far your drone is, the low battery will initiate based on that. For example, if the drone is half a mile out, its low battery will initiate at a higher battery percentage than if the drone was 100 yards away. The final type of technology is if somehow the navigation software has lost contact with the remote it will automatically fly back to home base. some legal issues are you cannot fly next to other aircrafts and take pictures without other peoples consent. Some security aspects regarding the drones are that they can be hacked not by an individual but by other groups or countries. As technology is expanding on drones so is the use for them as well. Some uses in the near future are delivering medicine and equipment, providing internet access to areas that don’t have it, and helping monitor and nourish crops. I believe the future of drones are more beneficial than it is harming to the society not only in your neighborhood, but the neighborhoods across the globe. In conclusion drones have come a long away from where they started, only being for military purposes, now being used for recreational purposes as well. What we use drones for today will help the world for the greater good. I believe if we take this next step with drones, we can do humanity good in ways nobody imagined from transporting blood to giving internet access for remote areas for education. In the long run, drones will do more good than harm to humanity.
